they say bloggers are a narcissistic kind of people - and i think that's partially true. i write to get things off my chest but that i feel compelled to share it on the interwebs can only mean that i think you, or someone (hopefully... please?!) cares about what i think and what i have to say. there's an audience though, and my bloggy's traffic tells me that you do care... so until y'all stop walking through the door, i'll continue to write. i can't promise it will all be great stuff though. jessica lee writes, as a blog, isn't where i put up what i consider to
be my "finer" work. for me, it's just a playground of sorts where i
flush out ideas and
projects i'm working on.
for the good stuff though, you can go to Fistful of Talent where i serve as editor and muse on all things talent with an all-star cast of HR, recruiting and management consulting professionals. and trust me, we aren't your old-school personnel professionals giving you advice that's grounded in employment law or anything boring like that... we try to keep it real (as real as the conversation can get as far as "talent management"... stop rolling your eyes...) with smart, practical advice on recruiting and human capital issues through wit and at times, a little bit of charm (or so we think).
Fistful of Talent aside, who am i and why should you care about what i write? these are the major influences that affect what i write here - and i assume this list will grow and change over time, but as of july 2009:
i live and work in the nation's capital, Washington, D.C.
i am an HR practitioner and have been at it since 2000. i consider myself a generalist - i recruit, i've done employee relations, i've done some training... and a lot of stuff in-between.
i lost my father in 2002. i write about my dad somewhat frequently. some might say i have a few issues that still need to be resolved in that area...
i not yet married... some day though.
good design, aesthetics + packaging matter to me.
i want so badly for HR to be cool... some day, some how...
i over-analyze issues to death - i'm one of those over-thinkers. and i'm an over sharer - bad combo, yeah?
and for now, that should suffice for helping you understand what i write about here. wanna know more? you connect with me elsewhere via LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, or simply email me... or you can read 10.5 questions with me over on Fistful of Talent... and another four questions with me at JPIE... but if you have other questions, really, just email and ask. your questions, they shall be answered.
